Invenco has been awarded a significant contract for the supply of a new fuel automation system at Z Energy’s 47 Aviation sites across New Zealand. Invenco is a global supplier of automation and transactional payment systems to the retail petroleum market.
Z Energy is one of New Zealand’s largest fuel companies, providing around one third of New Zealand’s total fuel needs. Z Energy partnered with Invenco to implement a complete technology upgrade across their retail and truck stop networks comprising a total of 271 sites. The solution offered by Invenco included the following major components:
- Forecourt Control
- Point of Sale and Back Office Systems
- A Head Office System
- G6 Outdoor Payment Terminals (OPTs)
- Fully integrated payment services via Paymark (New Zealand’s largest central electronic transaction processor), including support for financial and fleet cards, loyalty and prepaid cards through the G6 OPTs and Verifone’s Vx820 terminals.
- An online Terminal Management System.

The solution was deployed over a 5 month period, with completion in November 2012. Subsequently, Z Energy has ordered an additional 800 G6 OPT’s to support their new retail pay@pump initiative, which is rolling out in 2014.
In early 2013, Z’s Aviation business went to the market to source an upgrade to their existing aviation fuel automation system. The desired outcome was to source a “reliable, simple-to-use card based system that would enable customers to get aviation fuel when and where they wish, hassle free, with customers invoiced correctly and in a timely manner”.
After due evaluation Z Energy awarded the contract to Invenco. Vance Anderson, Site Systems Manager at Z Energy said “Invenco showed that they understood our requirements intimately and tailored a solution accordingly. We particularly liked the way Invenco addressed our business needs and how their solution focused on the customer experience, including providing a common user interface across our entire network.
Fred Noyce Invenco Business Development Manager said “We are thrilled to have won this further business with Z Energy. This gives us the opportunity to truly showcase our capabilities in a complete end to end solution across every type of retail petroleum channel within Z Energy. We believe that our product offering is unique in its depth and breadth and the fact that it can be scaled to accommodate everything from a remote unattended airfield through to high volume unattended truck stops to large 24 hour retail stations. New Zealand has always been at the forefront of petroleum automation and electronic payment system technology, and to have won this business with one of the most innovative fuel companies in New Zealand is truly rewarding for us”.
Deployment of the aviation solution is planned for 2014 and will include the rollout of G6 OPT’s, unattended site controllers, a remote management system, and integrated payment services.
